I have always been in awe of the beads created by Japanese lamp workers. Beautiful cane work. Perfectly shaped beads. I’ve been fortunate to see a demonstration many years ago of a Japanese lamp worker and how she handled making cane pattern beads. The torch resembles a bunsen burner and the glass is super soft. So soft I personally don’t really enjoy working with it. That’s quite alright though. Some things are better left to the masters…so here’s Daisuke Takeuchi and the pattern bars he’s made in the torch. This picture is floating around Facebook, being passed amongst both torch folk and fusers. Everyone is in awe…So check out his blog post about this particular cane he made. It’s in Japanese but the pictures tell the story. So beautiful!
